AI Strategy, Readiness and Security Consulting

Most clients start with the readiness assessment. The other three cover the AI you already run, your engineering team and ongoing leadership.

AI Readiness Assessment and Strategy

Find where AI can save time or money across your business, and where it should wait. We survey your staff, interview the people who run key workflows and score every candidate use case, then your leaders agree the priorities in a half-day decision session.

  • Readiness Scorecard for Data, Tools and People
  • Build, Buy or Skip Call on Each Priority
  • 12-Month Outlook Beyond the First 90 Days
  • Outline for Your AI Usage Policy

AI Security and Governance Review

A hands-on test of one AI application before customers or staff rely on it, based on the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications, a widely used checklist of AI security risks. We attack it the way a determined user would, review access control and provider settings, and write a usage policy that fits the app.

  • Prompt Injection and Jailbreak Testing
  • Data Leakage and Tool Abuse Testing
  • Severity-Rated Findings With Fixes
  • Readout and One Retest

AI Coding Tool Governance

Rules and settings for Claude Code or GitHub Copilot across an engineering team, so AI-assisted code stays reviewed and secrets and customer data stay out of AI tools.

  • Organization Settings and Data Controls
  • Guardrails That Block Secrets and Risky Commands
  • Repository Instructions and Review Checklist
  • Developer AI Usage Standard

Fractional AI Lead

A senior AI lead, part-time, who owns your AI roadmap, policy and project oversight, whether we deliver the projects or another team does. Billed monthly with no minimum term.

  • Roadmap Reviewed Every Month
  • Written Tool and Vendor Evaluations
  • AI Policy and Tool Inventory Kept Current
  • One-Page Monthly Leadership Report

AI Governance

AI Usage Policy and Governance

Staff often use AI tools before the company has rules for them. Every engagement leaves you with practical guidance: which tools are approved, what data may go in and who reviews what comes out.

Our policies are written by engineers who test AI systems, so they match how the tools actually behave. They are not legal advice, and we recommend your attorney reviews them before you adopt them. When the rules are set, AI training for employees helps your staff put them into practice.

What Good AI Governance Covers

  • An Approved-Tools Register
  • Rules for Customer Data, Passwords and Keys
  • Provider Settings for Data Retention and Training
  • Human Review of AI Output
  • A Named Owner for Each AI Project

How an AI Readiness Assessment Works

The usual starting point, from kickoff to a roadmap your leaders have agreed on.

  1. Kickoff and Survey

We agree your goals, choose who to interview and send a short AI-usage survey to your staff.

  2. Interviews and Inventory

Remote interviews with the people who run your key workflows. We map your tools, data and current AI use, and collect candidate use cases.

  3. Use-Case Scoring

Every use case is scored on value, feasibility, data readiness, risk and cost, so the trade-offs are clear before leaders decide.

  4. Leadership Decision Session

A half-day remote session where your leaders pick the priorities and name an owner for each one.

  5. Roadmap and Readout

We deliver the scorecard, the top use cases and the roadmap, then walk your leadership team through every recommendation.

Who Our AI Consulting Is For

Leadership teams that need decisions, budgets and risk controls before they scale AI. If you run a small business and want hands-on help getting started, see AI for small business.

Leadership Wants an AI Plan, Not More Pitches

Start with the readiness assessment. You get ranked priorities with costs and a roadmap your leaders have agreed on.

An AI Feature Is About to Launch

Book the security and governance review before customers or staff rely on it, while fixes are still small.

AI Coding Tools Are Spreading Without Rules

Coding tool governance gives every developer the same settings and the same standard for secrets and customer data.

AI Projects Run With No Single Owner

A fractional AI lead keeps the roadmap, the vendors and the spend in one place, without a full-time executive hire.

Questions About AI Consulting

What Do AI Consulting Services Include?

Ours cover four needs: strategy (which use cases to pursue, in what order and at what cost), security (testing an AI app before people rely on it), governance for AI coding tools and ongoing AI leadership. Every engagement has a fixed price and a written scope, and ends in documents your team keeps.

What Is an AI Readiness Assessment?

A structured look at your data, tools, people and governance to see where AI can help now and what needs work first. It turns a long list of ideas into a short ranked one, with a rough cost, an expected return and an owner for each priority.

How Much Should We Budget for AI?

It depends on the use case, which is why the assessment gives each of your top five a rough cost and an expected return before you commit. Some are best bought as a tool, some need a build with ongoing AI usage costs and some should wait. You see them side by side, so you can set a budget your finance team can defend.

How Do You Test an AI App for Security?

We attack the app in a staging or test environment, with your written permission: direct and indirect prompt injection, system-prompt leakage, data exfiltration through links, access between users and roles, and abuse of the tools it can call, including MCP servers. We never test in production, so customers and live data stay out of it.

Should We Standardize on Claude Code or GitHub Copilot?

It depends on your editors, your repositories and how much you want the tool to act on its own. We recommend one after a short developer survey and a call with your tech lead, then configure it for your organization.

Will You Just Recommend That We Hire You to Build It?

No. Each recommendation comes with the reasoning written down, and you can act on the roadmap with us, another vendor or your own team. If you do want us to build, see our AI development services.
